Post-production: DreamVisionMP; File Footage: WTHR; As a television journalist, writer and speaker, Anne Ryder began her broadcasting career as a reporter at WLFI-TV in Lafayette, Indiana, and as a reporter, weather and news anchor at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, Indiana, in the early 1980’s before joining WTHR-TV in Indianapolis. She reported from war zones around the world — from Bosnia to the Kosovo-Albanian refugee camps — and interviewed peacemakers including the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa. She was the only American reporter in more than a decade to be granted a sit-down interview with Mother Teresa. She created and produced “Hope to Tell” and “In an Instant,” stories of hope, faith and resilience of the spirit. She earned 15 regional Emmy Awards and five national honors, including two Edward R. Murrow awards. A medical emergency prompted her to step away from her television anchor job after 25 years; however, she remains an active community volunteer. --Words from the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers
