Biography of Evanna Lynch

Evanna Lynch is an Irish actress who was born and raised in Termonfeckin, County Louth, Ireland. She grew up with her father Donal, mother Marguerite, older sisters Mairéad and Emily, and younger brother Patrick.

Education

Lynch attended the National School in Cartown for her primary education. In September 2006, she was in her third year at Our Lady's College Greenhills, a girls' Catholic school located in Drogheda, Ireland. She later pursued further education and is currently studying at CTMI, specializing in speculative fiction.

Harry Potter Audition

Lynch's journey in the acting industry began when she auditioned for the role of Luna Lovegood in the film adaptation of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" on February 2, 2006. Despite initially believing that an ordinary girl like her would never have the opportunity to be in a Harry Potter film, Lynch surpassed 15,000 other hopefuls and secured the role.

Harry Potter Experience

Lynch started filming for "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" at Leavesden Studios in England in late February. The producers felt that professional actresses would be too predictable for the eccentric character of Luna Lovegood, leading to an open audition. David Heyman, the producer, mentioned in the documentary "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Beyond Magic" that they had three girls who they thought were good, but they weren't going to be Luna.

During the early stages of the fifth film's production, Lynch had the opportunity to meet J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books. After discussing how Lynch portrayed Luna, Rowling could only say one word: "perfect." However, due to Lynch's naturally dark hair, it was decided that she would be transformed into a blonde for the role.

Success and Recognition

While filming, Lynch formed new friendships with fellow cast members such as Bonnie Wright (who played Ginny Weasley), Katie Leung (Cho Chang), and Afshan Azad (Padma Patil). When the film was released, Lynch received numerous positive reviews and was hailed as one of the "undeniable winners" of the movie.
