Lael Brainard (born January 1, ) is an American economist. Brainard is the 14th Director of the National Economic Council since She was the Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve from to She was on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from to She was the United States Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs from to She is a member of the Democratic Party.
Brainard was nominated by Barack Obama to serve as the undersecretary of international affairs at the Department of the Treasury on March 23, [1] She was sworn in on the same day on April 20, [2] She resigned on November 8, [3]
